Abbracci which translates to Hugs in Italian are delicious cream and cocoa shortbread cookies that wrap around each other in a hug. How fun it would be to bake up a batch of these and send them off to family or friends!
Ingredients:
Cream dough: 113g butter 100g sugar 3 Tbsp heavy cream 1 Tbsp honey 200g all-purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder
Cocoa dough: 113g butter 120g sugar 1 egg 200g all-purpose flour 4 Tbsp cocoa powder 1 tsp baking powder
*Makes approx 40 cookies
Cream dough: 1. Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add honey & cream. 2. Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture to form a smooth, firm dough. 3. Prepare Cocoa dough: Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add in egg. 4. Sift dry ingredients and add to mixture to form a smooth, firm dough. 5. Preheat oven to 190C. 6. For each of the doughs, roll into balls approx 13g each. 7. To shape, roll each ball into logs and attach each end by overlapping the cream log over the cocoa log on one end and the cocoa over the cream on the other end. 8. Bake for 18 mins. Cool 5 mins on baking pan. Remove and cool completely on racks.
Note: You may add a little flour or milk to firm up or soften the cookie dough if necessary.
