Bacon and cheese is alway a good combo for anything and for buns they are simply awesome! These buns turned out super soft, pillowy and delicious! I dumped all the dough ingredients into my bread machine and let it do all the work so I only had to shape the buns and bake them!
Ingredients:
Dough:
Bread flour 250 g
Sugar 20 g
Salt 1/2 tsp
Milk powder 20 g
Water, lukewarm 160 ml
Butter 20 g
Yeast 1 tsp
Filling:
Bacon, thinly sliced 1/2 cup
Shredded Cheese, 1/3 cup (I used Monterey Jack)
Ground pepper
Spring Onion - chopped
Egg wash - 1 egg yolk + 1 Tbsp milk
Melted butter - 1 Tbsp for brushing after baking
In pan of bread machine, place all the ingredients for the dough and run the dough mode according to the manufacturer's instruction of your bread machine.
After the dough has finished proofing and doubled in size, remove and divide into 8 pieces. Roll into balls and rest 10-15 mins.
Flatten each ball place some bacon and cheese in the middle of the dough. Wrap and seal completely.
Flatten the ball to about 10 cm in diameter and make 8 equal cuts 3/4 way into the dough. Twist 2 ends upwards in opposite directions and pick the ends together.
Transfer to a lined baking tray. Repeat till all the dough balls have been shaped.
Cover and rest 30 mins.
Preheat oven to 180C.
Brush buns with egg wash, sprinkle with pepper and decorate with chopped spring onions.
Bake for 15 mins.
Remove from oven and immediately brush with melted butter.
Bacon & cheese makes everything taste better!
